Scottsdale Community College Film School
Market(s): Education
This project consisted of the ground up construction of new storage, classroom and office space (8,000sf) for the Scottsdale Community College Film Program. The facility provides secure storage, staging space, office work space and collaboration areas for the Film Program staff. Integral colored masonry was used for the building exterior as well as steel roof framing and standing seam metal roof, wall and soffit panels.
The owner decided to pursue a LEED Silver Certification on the project and the Silver Certification was awarded by the USGBC in early 2013. Danson Construction was instrumental in the sustainability aspect of the project including diverting nearly 90% of construction waste from traditional landfills, providing indoor air quality during construction and before occupancy, commissioning of electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, creating and implementing a construction activity pollution plan, providing materials for the project that contained an aggregate of 25% recycled material, and working diligently with the Owner and Design Professional to track and implement all sustainable aspects of the project.
